I just had my surgery on the 25th of june and I'm doing fairly well. The pain and the soreness doesn't bother me much, but Im having such a hard time with liquids. I"m on an all liquid diet and I just can't seem to get enough water in and I tried a protien drink and I got a really bad upset tummy from it. I'm trying really hard but I just don't know what to do anymore. Water, Crystal Lite, soup its all starting to make me sick to my stomach. I haven't gotten sick, just really nousies(sp). Please help me find a way so that I know I'm getting enough in, but I'm also getting some variety. Plus anyone have any ideas about protien. I was thinking those liquid protien bullets, Any suggestions is so helpful.  Thanks Katie

KATIE, just know that it does get better.  I had my surgery 5/30, and it was several days before I could get all my water in.  Not sure what your surgeons diet protocal is, but I was on soft foods before I left the hospital...scrambled eggs, cream of wheat, cottage cheese, soft peanut butter.  My nut says to not do protein drinks right now as our kidneys are already stressed out and the extra protein adds more stress.  I know that I am not being much help, but it really does get easier.  I have found that in order to get in my fluids, I must drink decaf tea.  I can't drink crystal light anymore, and water just doesn't seem to taste right.  Just hang in there and keep doing what your doc has told you to do and it will get better.  Gayle

Hi There, Dont worry about getting in all the protien 5 days out. Just eat what you can tolerate without feeling sick. I just did clear liquids for 2 weeks. Are you trying to swallow to much at one time. Remember to sip not Gulp. Take it slow. How about sugar free popsicles suck on those. Carla Klein 5 yrs out

Katie, First off, congratulations on your surgery. I had the same problem with liquids.  My doctor told me to just keep trying.  If I didn't get the full 64oz in, it was not the end of the world, as long as I was trying.  I tried sipping room temp. liquids.  That seemed to help.  I also added lemon to my water.  Crystal Lite was too sweet for me, still is.

Just keep trying.  Sip, sip, sip.  It will all fall into place sooner than you think.  You can do it! Crystal

I hope all gets better. I am pre-op so I cannot offer advice, but I can offer well wishes!
